About Reid Owen
Reid Owen co-founded Play It Forward Foundations with his brother and sister with one simple goal: to make youth sports and exercise accessible to every child, regardless of financial circumstances. As lifelong athletes, the siblings saw both sides of the problem—the high cost of equipment that keeps many kids from participating, and the piles of perfectly good gear gathering dust in garages and attics. Reid recognized that this unused equipment still had plenty of life left in it and could transform opportunities for other kids if placed in the right hands.
What began as a small community project has now helped hundreds of young athletes through the collection and redistribution of gently used sports equipment, bicycles, and athletic footwear. The foundation also raises funds to support kids who have experienced traumatic head, neck, and spine injuries not always covered by insurance. Guided by the organization’s motto, “Helping Each Other Help Others,” Reid leads with energy, compassion, and action.
Reid is a natural problem solver and a kid who doesn’t sit still when he sees a need. Whether it’s spotting waste, identifying opportunity, or finding ways to give back, he thrives on making things happen. Outside of his foundation work, he runs several successful ventures—Reid’s Mobile Car Wash, Reid’s Pressure Washing Services, and Cedar by Reid, a custom woodworking business specializing in handcrafted cedar products. A portion of all profits from these businesses is donated to charity, allowing him to keep “playing it forward” year-round.
Reid’s leadership and entrepreneurial spirit continue to shape the foundation’s growth and outreach. His example shows what’s possible when determination, creativity, and compassion meet a clear purpose: giving every kid the chance to play, belong, and thrive.
